Maybe love was a myth anyhow, a brew of hormones and fantasy, evolution's way of getting men and women together long enough for them to procreate, back in the day when girls got pregnant at twelve, were pregnant or nursing for the next twenty years, and were dead of the plague by forty. About This Quote

So many people believe in love, despite the fact that most of them are still single. They spend hours thinking about what they want in a partner, how to attract one, what to do if their partner does not treat them right, etc. They also spend hours thinking about what it feels like to be loved, that special feeling that comes only when someone else says they love you. The true meaning of this quote is so much more however.

It tells us that some people are so caught up with being loved by someone else that they have forgotten the power of love itself. They have so far forgotten how to love themselves, even though they know they need it. This is especially tragic as it is an emotionally charged topic.
